Ultra Realistic Wind | Maple Trees - First Preview | Nanite | Lumen | VSM | WPO | UE5.2

This is a preview of the upcoming Maple Tree asset. It is still a work in progress. I tried to optimize the wind movements so that they look more realistic and not too exaggerated. Trees have 1.5 million tris and 42 million triangles are moved on this map in real-time! Currently the interaction of VSM and WPO needs a very strong hardware. This is not only because in such a scene more than millions of triangles have to be moved at the same time, but also because the shadow has to be cached for this complex geometry. This can push even an RTX 4090 to its limits. If you turn off WPO, you can easily reach 120 FPS in the same scene. With WPO turned on, you often have a 60-70% performance loss. I am also working on a gaming version of the trees. These trees will then probably have a maximum of 200-300 tris.
In the second video you can see a first version of the wind, in which it looks a bit too exaggerated.

You have several options to define the wind strength.
Set a min value for the wind strength, as well as a max value and let the wind come and go with the help of the 'Auto Switch'.
You also have the option to define the 'wind animation speed'...
